Kath Mitchell - President

Born into a dog showing family Kath developed, at an early age, a great love of all animals but it was in her teens that she met the Sammy and, with now husband, Gerald, founded the later-to-be-world famous KISKAS kennel.

An interest in the organisation of things led Kath to become secretary of the NSS in 1967, serving 13 years in that office before relaxing for some years and returning into the swing of things as President. Success with Sammies has taken her all over the world and many friends have been made, not least of which were the famous Bob and Dolly Ward who bought the world famous American Ch. Kiskas Karaholme Cherokee from Kath and Gerald in the 1970's.

Several other breeds graced the KISKAS stable over the years, not least of which was the Akita and the Japanese Shiba Inu - both being introduced to the UK by Kath and Gerald. Now, however, a smaller variety graces the sofas in the form of a wonderful Japanese Spitz named "Sparkey". As someone recently said .... "Yes, that's right .... Kath does look right with a white fluffy thing!" Too true!!!

Ray Taylor - Chairman

Ray, and his wife Pam, are ex Police Officers and together they founded the Naduska Kennels in 1973.They also joined the Northern Samoyed Society during this year. Since then they have successfully bred and shown Samoyeds including six Champions. Ray is a Championship Show Judge of the Breed and has also judged internationally in New Zealand. He also represents the Society on the Samoyed Breed Liaison Council.

Both Ray and Pam conceived the idea of the NSS Samoyed and Puppy of the Year Event which was first introduced in 1996 and has now become enormously successful.

Ray attended the first ever World Samoyed Meeting in Milan, Italy in June 2000 representing the Northern Samoyed Society and helped man the Breed stall there. Arising from this meeting, relationships were built up with many other individuals and Samoyed Clubs in Europe.

Pam Taylor - Secretary

Pam has been Secretary of the Northern Samoyed Society for over twenty years. Within the Society, she also acts as Health Co-ordinator and Overseas Liaison Officer. She is a Championship Show Judge of the Breed and has judged internationally in New Zealand, Southern Ireland and Italy. In 1997, she had the honour of judging the breed at Crufts Dog Show. In June 2000, she spoke as a delegate at the first ever World Samoyed Meeting held in Milan, Italy.

Pam continues to organize the NSS Samoyed and Puppy of the Year event each year.

She was commissioned by Ringpress Publishers to write a book on the breed. This was entitled The Samoyed Today and when completed was published in 2000. She also writes Samoyed Breed Notes for both Dog World and Pedigreedogs, an online website.
